New Year Resolutions for Bathrooms

61 Inch Modern Double Ceramic Vessel Sink Bathroom Vanity

This new year, let’s all make a resolution together, and that’s to not neglect the bathroom.  I know, I know.  It’s not exactly the most fun place to maintain, but get yourself a nice pair of rubber gloves and you’ll be fine.  (Mine are purple, and that makes a HUGE difference J )

  1.  Begin easy.  Start with cleaning out those vanity drawers.  Check the expiration dates on your sunscreens, medicines and any other products in there. Don’t be part of the estimated 66 percent of Americans who keep expired products in the medicine cabinet.  Expired medicines won’t work at the capacity they’re meant to, and that’s no good for when you really need something to relieve your symptoms.
  2. Invest in some Clorox wipes.  I love these things, and they make the job of eliminating bacterial super easy.  There are about 100,000 germs per square inch – get this – just on the sink!  Wipe that off every other day and surely don’t leave toothpaste remnants in it when you’re expecting company.  The toilet is estimated to have 100 germs per square inch on the seat, but it sends a six foot germ explosion out with every flush.  Think about that when you’re deciding where to store your toothbrushes.
  3. Speaking of toothbrushes, it might be a good time to get a new one.  While we’re talking about expired items, toothbrushes wear out too.  Head to your grocery store and stop by the hygiene aisle too pick one up.
  4. Scrub that tub floor.  Mix one part original Dawn dish soap with one part white vinegar.  Place this concoction into a spray bottle and you’ll have the best tub cleaner you’ll ever scrub with – and that’s from personal experience.  This mixture removed dirt that I was sure that was embedded in the tub.  It isn’t the best smelling thing in the world but your tub or shower pan will be as white as you got it after you’re done.  For best results, spray it on and let it sit for a minute or two.
  5. Wipe off your showerhead.  Hard water and calcium tends to collect on the nozzles, and you don’t want that ending up in your hair.  Some showerheads have flexible rubber nozzles that make this cleanup task a breeze.  The Clorox wipes from number two will work just fine.
