5 Upgrades To Make To Your Master Bathroom

72 Inch Double Sink Bathroom Vanity with Multiple Top Choices

Besides the kitchen, a home’s bathrooms seem the place to get dirty, dingy, and outdated the fastest. Since we’re selfish, we’re going to focus today’s post on spoiling ourselves first and list 5 updates you can make to master bathroom. And don’t worry, these are all things you can do as a weekend project!

1. Find a new, fantastic focal point. We all know that the bathroom vanity is the central focal point of any bathroom. So for this upgrade, you’ll need to do a little research before you just run out and buy a double vanity for your master bath. Take into consideration your needs and wants. Is counterspace an issue? Or do you need two sinks?

Cost: Varies. Usually between $1-3k.

Degree of Difficulty: Advanced. You’ll need tools, plumbing hook ups, and help with heavy lifting.

2. Pick a new paint. The best time to do this is while the old vanity is out. That way you don’t need to worry about covering anything up. Style tip: Select your vanity first, so that you can decorate around that, instead of trying to find a vanity that matches your paint, flooring, etc.

Cost: Usually between $18-25.

Degree of Difficulty: Beginner. You can even have your kids help.

3. Match Your Mirrors.  Seriously. If your vanity is the main focal point, then the mirrors over your bathroom vanity come in at a close second. If you’re vanity didn’t come with matching mirrors, then it’s best to try to match the hardware. Matching finishes across manufacturers is nearly impossible. Take it from someone who’s tried… and failed.

Cost: Varies. Can be anywhere from $100-800, depending on the size.

Degree of Difficulty: Beginner. Just make sure you use a stud finder to mount on a beam  or use an EZ Anchor product rated for the weight of the mirror to secure it into place.

4. Hit up the Hardware. If you aren’t opting for a new vanity, sometimes changing out the old faucets can be enough. But while you’re at it? Why not change the existing hardware on your cabinets, shower, and towel bars too? Tiny touches sometimes make all the difference.

Cost: Depending on how much you change out anywhere from $50-350.

Degree of Difficulty: Medium. We’ve got a Youtube video about installing a faucet that can help if you’re unsure.

5. And Speaking of Tiny Touches… Accessorize. Even if you’re a guy and the word accessory makes you think of women’s jewelry, just do it. New shower curtains, towels, and rugs within a certain color scheme can really bring a cohesive design into your bathroom.

Cost: Depending on how crazy you go, anywhere from $50-300.

Degree of Difficulty: Your dog could do it.
