Roof – Make sure it is in decent shape. It’s a good idea to get in the attic to check for any leakage there might have been.
Electrical Systems – Check the age of the electrical systems in the home. Look at the breaker panel; and check all of the outlets to make sure they’re grounded. Also check to make sure the GFCI outlets are in the appropriate spots.
Water Heater – Make sure it’s in good, working order and not 100 years old.
Furnace and Air Conditioner – Again, look for a relatively newer unit in good working condition.
Plumbing Fixtures – Do all toilets, showers, faucets, and sinks work? Leak? (Hopefully not!)
FOUNDATION – This is probably the most important thing to look at because it is the most expensive thing on this list to repair! Make sure there are no cracks and the house isn’t shifting in one direction.
