How To Stop A Constantly Running Toilet?

If you have a toilet that won’t stop running, chances are you’re wasting an enormous amount of water. This is definitely an issue you’ll want to address as soon as you see that you have the problem. Inside the toilet tank there is a fill valve assembly that has a float on it. This should turn off the water when it reaches a desired level in the tank.  If the water fills the tank and keeps running then you need to replace the fill valve.  Turn off the wall stop of the water supply and remove the water line from the bottom of the tank. The fill valve can then be removed from the toilet by unscrewing the nut on the bottom of the tank.  You can purchase a universal fill valve from any local hardware or box store for under $20.  Next, you’ll just need to reinstall in the reverse order you took the old one out.
