Buying Guide for Chrome Faucets
The chrome faucet selection at UniqueVanities includes a variety of fixtures and choices for your bathroom. From traditional center mount faucets to vessel sink faucets and drains, we offer high quality, gorgeous designs to meet your vanity needs. No matter how good the quality and style of our product is, however, if you do not purchase the right type and size of faucet for your room, you cannot take advantage of the product benefits. Faucet selection considerations include size, plumbing and configuration.
Length of Spout
One of the first things you will need to look at with selecting a chrome faucet or fixture for your bathroom is whether or not it will fit your needs and space. If you are looking for a fixture for an 18-inch vanity in a small bathroom, then you will not want to choose a gooseneck spout that has an 11 inch height. Not only will the spout look out of place on such a small sink, it may also cause severe back splash. Spouts come in all shapes and sizes so you are sure to find the right piece for your vanity. Look for a spout that will provide comfortable functionality and matches the overall style of your room. You will also need to ensure the spout is appropriate for your sink selection. A top-mounted vessel sink, for example, often requires a special type of tall faucet while a shallow basin works well with a shorter, stockier spout.
Configuration
The next thing to consider when it comes to faucet selection is plumbing configuration. This is important in choosing both the faucet and the drain. For the faucet, you want to determine if your vanity and sink support a single hole or three hole configuration. For a single predrilled hole, you will need to select a faucet that mounts at a single location at the base of the spout. Generally, water controls are mounted on the spout in the form of side handles or a lever. Three hole configurations present a spout bounded by water controls on either side. In this type of set, the control knobs are also mounted to the sink. Drains come with and without overflow. An overflow drain option is used with a sink that has an overflow cut out toward the top of the basin. This allows water to leave via a secondary drain if the water level ever reaches a certain height. Generally, vessel and specialty sinks do not come with an overflow option, and you would want to select a drain that does not have one.
Spread
If your sink or vanity calls for a three-hole fixture, then you also need to ensure the spread of the faucet is appropriate for your base. The spread is the measurement between the pre-drilled holes or the measurement from the center of the water control handle to the spout. This is especially important if you select a fixture where the knobs and spout are statically mounted in a single base and cannot be moved closer or farther from each other.
