Candle Wall Sconces
Many home owners spend a lot of time and effort decorating their homes to look just right. This can be an enjoyable undertaking that has an end result that is very rewarding. Sometimes the set up or arrangement of items in a home is just what the person was aiming for, yet they would still like to add something, such as lighting, for the complete touch. Since rewiring entire rooms to accommodate new lighting is not an option for many new homeowners, considering candle wall sconces alongside the vanity wall mirror is the next best option. That is when a candle wall sconce comes in to fill the spot perfectly.
There are many different styles of candle wall sconces. The styles and materials range from elegant to rustic, from wrought iron to wood. A maker of a wall sconce can use the material to form an elaborate design, or they can use the same material and create a simple type of wall sconce. A rustic style sconce would look just right in a room with a country or traditional type of décor. One that is made to look elegant can fit in with classic or even contemporary styles of room décor. Many of the style will add just the right touch to a room with a modern look.
When choosing the place to install the wall sconce, there are several factors to keep in mind. If the sconce is heavy, whether because of the material or the size, it is important that it be installed securely. The best bet is to find a wall stud and attach the sconce with screws in this area. If this is not possible, or if the desired placement is not where the stud is located, it is a good idea to install it with an anchor kit found in most home improvement stores.
Another aspect to consider when placing the sconce is how the light will fill the area. In order to determine the best spot for the placement of the sconce, mark the location with a piece of masking tape and hold a lit candle in this area to see how the light will fill the area. This way will enable the sconce to be installed right where it works best without having to secure it to the wall more than once. Additionally, consider any other lighting you may have in the bathroom. Overhead bathroom lighting can compensate for the soft lighting of the sconces when activities are done that require better lighting (shaving, makeup, etc.)
With any candle, whether it is in a wall sconce or sitting on a table, there is a matter of safety. A burning candle should never be left unattended. If the desired location of the wall sconce is next to something such a curtain that could possibly be blown around and touch the candle flame, it is a good idea to use small electric candles. These are available at many home improvement or variety stores. They are not expensive, and the investment as far as safety goes is invaluable. These small lights will cast a glow that is just as lovely as a traditional wax candle.
The addition of a candle wall sconce can be just the piece to complete the look of an area. They can make a dramatic statement on their own, or they can complement other items hanging on the wall, such as a picture or a mirror. The ability to bring a light effect to the area makes them a very functional piece as well.
