How To Level An Uneven Concrete Floor

On Saturday, we posted about moving a new 30 inch bathroom vanity to your basement bathroom and discovering a problem: a big crack in your floor. If you don’t have a crack to repair but would just like to walk on level ground–here is a guide. If you’re dealing with a floor that is an inch or less uneven, you can use the same mortar mix or leveling compound which we mentioned in our last post. You can pour this overtop of your floor and trowel off to make it level where ever you want it. A keen eye and laser level are good things to have here. If you’re concerned about a sidewalk or something exterior that may need more than an inch of height to be even, you may want to consider calling a cement company. They will drill a hole into the existing surface and pump a mortar solution under the slab to raise it up to the desired level. A lot simpler to have done—but a lot more expensive.
